The Super Kings’ are scheduled to play only 2 of their 7 home matches – against Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 18 and against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 22 – at the Chepauk this season, as the dates of Lok Sabha Elections coincided with the match dates. If an amicable solution is not met, Chepauk will also stand to lose out on a Qualifier on May 27 and an Eliminator on May 28.
“We have received an official communication from the franchise and a meeting will be held in Mumbai on Saturday to sort out the venue due to Chepauk’s inability to host the matches,” a top IPL official told PTI on Friday.
According to The Hindu, two of their matches can be shifted to Ranchi, while Eden Gardens, Kolkata, stands a good chance to host one of the two play-off matches.
